Noticed that both PC World and Jessops are selling the i850 (amongst others)
with tape across the box stating that they are 'officially resealed by
Canon'...

Anyone know why?

Nope, can't be.

Although, that was my first thought, this is *EVERY* i850 that I saw in two
different suppliers yesterday, and in one supplier last week. Plus the
i550's that I saw were treated in exactly the same fashion.

If this was the case, how many ppl would be put off from making a purchase?
It certainly would me.

well that could very well be the case as that may be all the I850's
left now that they have a new model from what I hear I865 to replace
the 850.. So that may very well be the case. The bottom of the barrel
so to speak.
