Ink carts are all full. Test print is pretty ordinary and no colours are
printed. I assume the print heads are gummed up. Any tricks on how to clean
them? Any tricks on how to pull this sucker apart would also be appreciated.
The service manual is not much help.

Same problem with an i865. Any tips for that one too?

TIA

I managed to strip the MP780 apart. How do I clean the print heads? I have
not removed the ink carrier yet. That appears to be a very significant job.

TIA

try methylated spirit to clean ink gunk off the print heads -- soak
overnight if necessary.
Don't use any other solvent as it may damage plastic parts, meths
won't.

Isopropol Alcohol is also a solvent which won't harm plastic - same as
you get in a little bottle with some VCR and audio-cassette player head
cleaning kits sold under the "Allsop" brand name.

**Thanks for that. I actually needed to know how to extract the print head.
I finally worked that out and cleaned it. I only need to sort out a few more
issues and I should be able to get it working.
