How do I reset the Ink Low error message after refilling the Ink
cartridge???

Right now you can't. You have to tell it to ignore low ink settings.

IF YOU WOULD USE THE APPROPRIATE INK THEN YOU WOULD NOT HAVE TO ASK THAT
QUESTION.

Shut up Measeshit. You don't know what you are talking about. Go hump
a donkey.

If the Canon MP170 low ink warning works the same as the "i" and "ip"
series, it first gives a low ink message and then goes to an out of ink
warning with a little more printing. When you then replace the empty cart
with a full one it reads full. When refilling most people do not wait until
the low ink message as they want to refill (bci-6 carts) when they are no
more than 80% empty in the reservoir area. This prevents the sponge in the
cartridge from accumulating dried ink, which would decrease the number of
refill cycles the cart would permit. Unfortunately, the full ink indicator
only shows after the previous ink cart shows empty. In the "i" and "ip"
series printers you just ignore the ink level indicator and periodically
check ink levels in the carts to know when to refill them. The ink monitor
is absolutely inaccurate in these printers. It only "guesses" ink levels
between full and low and only shows low because there is a small prism in
the bottom of the reservoir area that a light shines through when the
reservoir is empty This triggers the sensor that shows ink low. The printer
then does a crude count-down before showing empty. There is then a small
amount of ink left in the sponge area that you would discard if replacing
instead of refilling. That remaining ink is necessary as you would damage
the print head by running the cart completely dry.

If the Canon MP170 low ink warning works the same as the "i" and "ip"
series,

It doesn't, to my knowlege.

The MP170 uses a Head-On-Cart system, with CL100 inks, and is usually
chipped, probably using the same or similar chip as the CLI8/PGI5 carts.
