Has anyone used this? I'm thinking of making some brochures, this is Canon
MP 101 Matt 170gsm photo paper - which sounds about right, and the price is
reasonable. But does it have anything stamped on the back (canon logo for
instance) and can you print on the back? TIA

(Please no recommendations for other 'non-name' papers, unless you are also
from Australia)

Near as i'm aware the mp101 is single sided matte paper. The double
sided stuff is denoted D and i'm only familar with pp101d (Photo Paper
Pro plus double side IIRC)... and a tad bit heavier than 170g/m2...
more like 270g/m2. And to be honest I've only used the pp101d once, and
it was in duplex mode, and the rollers mucked up my copy. No no logos,
in fact they market this paper for people who want to create photo
albums. And charge an arm and a leg for it too.

I'm not from oz but I think ilford is a wide enough name to fall under
your no cheapo spam. I haven't bought this yet, but I was thinking
about making super jewel cd cases, sort of the same size as a long box,
but as thin as CD jewel cases and a clear inside. One of the few
options in matte i've found thus far as Ilford smooth galerie heavy
weight matte. A4 200g/m2 and comes in 50 sheet a4 somewhere around
AUD$25-$30 or so.

as you didn't list what printer you had I link you to ilfords site
http://www.ilford.com/html/us_english/prod_html/galerie/htm/lps/latprtset.htm

The other option i'm aware of, haven't tried is epson double sized
matte paper. A4 178g/m2 50 sheet package. S041569 Tad more spendy at
AUD$30-$35

I have the Canon IP4000. I'm really after something pretty cheap - the MP101
is half the price of those other two. My other option which I'll probably go
for is Kodak double sided picture paper - it's pretty crap - but it's cheap,
and there's a half price sale here at the moment.

Ilford exists - but is hard to get, and also isn't cheap.

My single test was done on a mp760, which is well the ip4000
multifuction unit.

Really? From my experence it's cheaper than canon by far, and I made
sure to double check with people I know in know it (know there is
nothing worse that someone from a different market making bogus
reccomendations). The price estimate was based on what I saw on
website, and what they pay in a camera shop. I don't have an accurate
cost of the matte paper, but the Photo paper Plus glossy is well
AUD$50/20p from camerastore.com.au but i'm sure that price is somewhat
inflated others float a AUD$20/20p for the plain glossy paper. Ilford
isn't cheap, nor is epson, but in contrast.

But it's clear I didn't fully understand your question... I assumed you
wanted double sided paper rather than just print on the back of coated
inkjet paper. I haven't bought the single sided matte but I have the
PP-101 here and not only does it say "canon" everywhere, and seems to
be coated with an anti-stick layer. Great for your feed so you don't
suck up two or more sheats, my HP loved it. Not so great for printing
on the rear... my attempt smeared. I remember the epson photo paper
glossy had nothing on the back, and and its results were most passable.
Can't speak for their matte papers though.

Hi there, or should that be G'day.

I have used HP Brochure and Flyer paper, which is for printing on both
sides. Not as Glossy as Photo Paper, and the only slight problem is to make
sure any photos are dry, before trying to print on the other side, but no
problems with text.

I got it here in UK for £10 for box of 50 A4.

I have used MP 101, and you can print on the back, there is nothing
stamped on it, BUT, it is not the same on both sides. Front produces
really good matte photos, back is yellower, and print results are more
like plain paper. It is nice & heavy, though, and might give
satisfactory results if the brochure were designed so that the
difference from front to back was not obvious. It works real well for
cards with a picture on one side & text on back, for instance.
