There are presently no aftermarket chips available for the ip4200/5200.
The answer is not NO, there are compatable carts for it, just you have
to pull your old chips and plop them on the compatable cartridges. You
can print with used chips, but you lose your meter.

I've looked for compatable carts, but can't find any. I'm in th UK

To change the chip you just take it from your cart,
I used a penknife, and stick it in place with double sided tape on the
replacement cart. The problem is you need to stick exactly in the
right place and that the carts I bought were a poor fit in that they
did not click in place.
Hi

Has anyone tried refilling the ip4200 when it is only half empty and
before the lights start blinking. Will this work .
zakezuke said:Somewhat.... on a new tank which never reached "empty" you are able to
refill it and get the low ink warning when the ink reaches prism level,
but once the ink hits the prism the cartridge is well starts counting
down from low to empty. Refilling at this point does not restore the
level. Also, if you continue to refill before empty eventually the
printer will notice and assume the cartridge is empty.
This is at least what i've observed.
Martin said:The cartridge will work but no matter whether you refill before it hits
low ink level warning or whatever it'll still eventually decide you've
been refilling and show you the "cartridge appears to be a non-Canon
type" warning followed by the "invalidate your warranty" warnings and
acceptance screens.
There's plenty of information on this process if you google for it but
the printer will continue to work so it's not all bad.
