Canon IP 4000 Squeaks

My year-old Canon IP 4000 has recently developed a loud, annoying squeak.
This happens when it goes through its occasional gyrations of wiping its
nozzles (or whatever that spontaneous activity is).

Anyone else noticed this? Any thoughts?

I haven't seen this in my own ip4000 or in any of my customers.
However, it may be that the carriage bar needs a little lubrication. That is
the silver rod that runs the width if the printer, you can see it if you lift
the top lid. A "very small" amount of silicon grease will do no harm and may
help.

If it's a squeek there's possibility theres a bearing dry on one o
the gear's, a grinding noise, could be due to something being jamme
in the gears

If the noise starts when the head starts to move then it could be du
to the bar being dry or one of the pully's that drive the timing bel
which moves the head assembley

Isolate the noise by trying to see if it occurs when the head moves o
as soon as the paper feed rollors start to operate will provide goo
clues
