Folks, can anyone tell me how I adjust the DPI out put on the i950. Most
things I read indicate it should be set for at least 1440 dpi (output). The
controls don't have a "setting" tab that I can set for that value. Any
advise appreciated.

You can't adjust the DPI count on Canon inkjets. The output quality on a
Canon printer is dependent on the paper you use and the quality left (High,
Normal, etc).

Thanks, regards

Do they have a draft setting?

Yes. The preset modes are: Custom, Draft, Standard, High.

Custom lets you set the speed/quality (1 to 5) and the half-toning
(diffusion, dither, auto).
