Hi,

I have an I950, which has had a nozzlecheck print done monthly and has been
100% ok up to now. The problem (via the nozzle check maintenance option)
relates to the Magenta grid (the one below the Black grid) - which now only
prints about 50% of the area. It does NOT however, have RANDOM missing
sections. I will try to describe what it looks like - the nozzle check print
has six colours printed in a grid box with each colour box being about 100
mm width by 12 mm high. This is in turn divided into a grid which is about
32 rectangles width by about 16 high. The problem box has the top half of
this large grid printed ok, but the BOTTOM half alternates with the print
being there, then misses, then ok, then misses etc.

I have also noticed that at the bottom part of the test page you should see
the summary of the alignment print - with boxes A B C D E (then below) F G
H. Each of these has the numeric alignment printed next to it IN BLACK (no
1 - 7) The H doesnt print AT ALL. Whilst I initially thought this may be
to do with a blocked nozzle, I am now doubtful as the H has NOTHING printed
next to it and NO number at all. As this number would/should be printed in
Black - I would expect it to appear regardless of the problem with the
magenta nozzles.

Nozzle Alignment C is also impossible to set without parallel lines -
presumable because of the problem as shown in the fig above.

Hope you can follow this and help - but would think you may need to have a
nozzle test print in front of you to follow description.

FYI, I have installed newMagenta Cart, done deep cleans, run a cleaning cart
through, removed the head and soaked it etc, cleaned the contacts, and the
prob is still exactly the same.

Hello, TechD!

My problem was not exactly like your but similar. Turned out to be a bad
print head (likely electronics in my case). Fortunately it was still under
warranty and Canon service was OUTSTANDING.

Thanks,

Colonel Blip.

It looks very much as if one or more nozzles have failed in the printhead.
Since you have done plenty of cleaning cycles you may be able to get some
advice from the Nifty Stuff forum, if that does not help then it is new
printhead or printer time I'm afraid.
