I have had this printer for about 10 months, with no problems. Now it is
starting to show banding, generally toward the end of an A4 print. it looks
most predominant when trying to print cream colours.

The nozzle and printhead alingment checks look OK and I have done a number
of cleaning cycles.

Any ideas?

Call Canon and set up for a printhead exchange. You should have an
"exchange policy" paper that came with your printer. Canon now says that
their printheads are warranted for life (rep told me at Best Buy,) and you
can now send your printhead in for exchange. The printhead is definitely
clogged, and you might be able to clean it but, since it's under warrantee,
I would just send it in. One thing though. When you call to start an RMA,
they will ask if you used off brand, refills or after-market inks. You need
to say, "I only used Canon ink tanks specifically for my printer." If you
tell them otherwise, they will say, "You voided your warrantee."
Hope this helps,
Joe
