Canon i865 try before you buy sample - banding?

I've used Canon's print sample service, you send them a .jpg and they print
it out for you to see the results.

Well, I selected the i865 as I've been considering the purchase of one...

The resulting sample seems to show some horizontal banding which is less
than impressive - have I received a duff sample?

I should point out that the sample is printed on their PR-101 6x4 paper...

Hi,

I recently purchased the i860, which is the North American version if
the i865, and have had some horizontal banding issues when using some
papers, notibly the ilford classic pearl. I played with the settings
and was able to eliminate the banding, tho it took half a pack to sort
it out. (ilford was NO help sorting this out btw) On canon papers I
have had no problems, and the Epson colorlife which is very similar to
the ilford paper is marvelous. I was ready to return it however after
the first issues with banding, but am now very very pleased with it.
Also, no problems with either the canon matte, or Epson Matte
heavyweight.

I would contact them and ask for another print to see what happened
with the print you received, esp if you are considering making a
purchase.
