My printer periodically will misprint a single letter wherever it appears in a
document, eg every "n" will have a short vertical line through it, or every "c"
or whatever. Head cleaning doesn't affect it. Change of font eliminates it.
Repeat printing of same document does not. Printing new document in same session
does not. Switch off and restart either eliminates it or transfers fault to
another letter.
What do I do?

align the print head again.

Deep print head cleaning?
I don't understand. On test, and in most printing, the machine works perfectly.
Then, at random, a document will emerge with every appearance of one (and only
one) letter of the alphabet with, to be be more precise, a short vertical
whisker upwards from some part of the letter, and another downwards. Sometimes a
short linking mark joins the upward and downward strokes. Once the fault
appears, only a change of font, or a restart of the print will prevent the
chosen letter misprinting in al; subsequent documents.

I am most grateful for your interest. Please keep coming.

Have you tried a printer driver upgrade or at least a re-install of the
existing one.

Have you checked for possible font corruption? I don't have a link handy,
but there is a shareware program out there which checks for such.
