Canon I860 problem

Could anyone recommend a type of paper to use with my Canon I860? I will be
using it generally for printing my text-only homework. The paper I'm using
now smears even with ten minutes of cool down time.

To be honest, i never tried mine prints, if they smear. But, i use Canon
Office paper, which is very cheap and text is good quality - better than on
some no-name i tried.(however, i use i550, if that make any difference)

I am using bog standard copier/laser paper, no trouble for me at all.
 
I am using standard 24# inkjet paper for all my printing-works fine.
If you are having smearing problems you might want to adjust the time
between prints. Go into properies, maintenance and customs settings
will give you drying time adjust.

I've been having the same problem.
I just traded in my old Epson Ep2 for a Canon i860. Though the color photos
are a 100% improvement over the old Epson the black ink from the Epson
never smeared on regular paper but the Canon does. If I print in draft mode
the problem is less noticable but still there. Also if you use a yellow
highliner marker over the black ink it smears just terrible. On my Epson it
never happened.
 
Tried Costco Ink refills on my Canon S900. Like total Duh! Grey-scale
colours all turned out brown; and regardless of colour adjustments,
everthing turned out crappy!

Costco is hardly one to provide customers with the "Good Housekeeping"
stamp of approval. And when it comes to inkjet refills, they, as
usual, have chosen to vend the most abysmal crap the market can
possibly bear! -(
 
Other than that, you liked it???....;)

Take a look at places like MIS (inksupply), Atlex, etc.

Also Amazon ink (Pantone's entry into the game)---It is sold thru
places like Staples.

It's easy for grey-scales to turn brownish etc. when the printer
profile is incorrect. A change in inks might warrant some adjustment.
The ColorVision ProfilerPlus utility might be of some help in creating
a profile that's well-matched to the Costco inks. You don't happen to
live in the Seattle area do you?

Colour was only one of the problems with my Canon S900 printer. Costco
ink also produced severe banding with my particular printer; so
incorrect viscosity is probably an issue as well. Their
one-ink-fits-all, might work okay with other brands of printers, but
it's not useable with Canon 6 cartridge systems.

I've also been suspicious of their ink's claim to be "waterproof." It
would seem that such ink might form residues that are difficult to
clean. Maybe you should try ordering bulk ink from MIS or Lincoln
that are known to be compatible, maybe the Costco stuff just isn't a
solution in your case. BTW both Fry's and Sam's also have refill kits
you might want to try (if you're brave).
