is there another utility that I can use to align the print heads other than
the one that came with the printer? Ive tried using the supplied software
but cant seem to tell the difference in printouts. My text prints are often
"slanted." pics seem to be fine but maybe could be better with properly
aligned heads. Thanks in advance.

When you say 'slanted' do you mean that each letter is slanted or that lines
of text seem to run at an angle across the page?

Si.

each letter isnt slanted just certain ones. maybe three random letters in
each word. i think its the head alignment but I could be wrong. Im open to
any suggestions to help correct this problem. thanks in advance.

Has this printer been in use for a long time?
If so open the hood and look to the left in front of the carriage. You will
see a metal piece with 2 "eyes" in it.Take some isopropryl alcohol and q-
tip and clean off the eyes. You should get some ink residue from this
procedure.Let it air dry and do an alignment with some good paper.I suggest
Canon Hi-Res (hr-101).
Should be fixed.
