Anyone else experienced blocked or faulty jets on this
printer?
Only 2 months old, still on original carts and a cyan nozzle
wont print. ( there's a gap in the nozzle check printout)
... shows up as a very thin line in some graphics and in the
alignment test cyan boxes.
Tried all cleaning etc., where does one have to go to get
a new head under waranty?

Usually to a qualified Canon service. If you don't know where, i'm sure
your reseller will told you where to go. And it should be written in your
warranty card you got it with printer.

No local dealers, no onsite repairs , it looks like a return to Canon.
Have to buy/ borrow another printer, can't afford the downtime.

I suppose you bought it in Internet shop and got it through mail, right?
But still it should be some Canon qualified service center around? If not,
then i assume your country doesn't have official supplier for Canon
products. In this case, yes, sending back is only option.

I have one that is over six months old and have yet to get any blocked
nozzles.

Try removing the head, and dabbing it gently on a moist paper towel. Do
not wipe the head, just dab it on the towel. Re-insert it into the
printer and run a test pattern, several times if necessary, to clear the
nozzles.

I've used this simple procedure a few times with my old HP printer
cartridges and it works well.

In the continental US Canon has been known to cross-ship printers when
under warranty.

Well, all i can say is that this could be one of reasons why in US this
printer is about 300-400% cheaper that in Europe...since in Europe 950 costs
about 600-650 US$!!! 850 comes about 300-350 US$. That 's why i have "only"
550. that's most i can afford. and i payed it more than US guys pay for 950
model...now go and figure!

Canon will ship a replacement to you and have you ship the defective unit
back...the downtime will be minimal.
