I don't know if this does any harm or otherwise makes any
difference, but I installed (under WIN98SE) the Drivers and the
Documentation for my new Canon i450 yesterday from the CD, and
INCTRL reports that the Documentation install deleted these two
Windows files:

Files deleted: 2
----------------
c:\WINDOWS\INF\DRVDATA.BIN
Date: 10/8/2003 10:14 AM
Size: 349,497 bytes
c:\WINDOWS\INF\DRVIDX.BIN
Date: 10/8/2003 10:14 AM
Size: 1,174,462 bytes

and I've confirmed that they're gone.

Well, you've got the notification from the progam you use. These two
files comprise the driver database for Win9x. It is common to delete
these two files, forcing Win9x to rebuild the driver database to include
the new drivers which have been installed. The documentation install
did not do this, the driver install did.

Ok, thanks very much.
