Canon DV capture problems

I have a canon MV600 connected via a Belkin IEEE1394 card
to XP. Every time I attempt to communicate with the
camera using MoveiMaker1 or 2 or MGI VideoWave3 the
program hangs up and soemtimes the PC as well. The HP
notebook apparently has the capability for this. Any
clues?
 
i'd say your pc cant cope. i had the same prob... got new
pc. works fine. sorry not much help
