Canon BJC-80 Printer issue

The printer goes through the motions but no ink is transferred from
the cartrige. So I bought a new complete cartridge, with both black
and color cartriges. Plugged it in, and still no ink hits the paper.
I
have no error tones, no flashing error lights. If it wasn't for the
lack of ink showing up on the paper, it would sound and appear as if
working perfectly. I'm running windows XP pro on a IBM Thinkpad R52.

Any suggestions? My next step is to spike it off a Canon reps
forehead
and buy a HP.

I am not as familiar enough with Canon models, so please bear with me.

If this model uses ink cartridges which have the head integrated in
them, then make sure you have removed any tape that is indicated needs
removal on the new cartridge's head or other areas. Are the new
cartridges within their expiration date?

Make sure the electrical contact areas are clean on both the cartridge
and the printer where the cartridge is installed.

If this printer uses separate heads and ink tanks, you may have either a
clogged or burned out head. If you need further information on clearing
a clogged Canon printer head, post another request to this group.

Then why don;t you let the people who are familiar with Canon provide
the advice?

GODDAMNIT Measashit!!! Some of us just want to donkypunch the hell out of you
sometimes.

I don't get to see comments made by meathead unless they get quoted
through another poster, so I typically just let sleeping meatheads lie
(and for the most part that's mainly what they do, lie.)

However, since this came to my attention, I'll answer.

The answer is so simple, I'm surprised even he can't figure it out. I
don't "stop" anyone from providing useful (or even useless info). That
explains why even he occasionally gets it "right"...

You replaced the ink head when you replaced the complete cartridge.
Art's question about the expiration date of the cartridge is first thing
to consider. As Art suggested, the electrical contacts must be clean.

I believe there is a flexible cable attached to the cartridge socket,
that could be damaged. If Art's suggestions don't fix it, the problem
might be more expensive (or time consuming) to repair than buying a
replacement.

The BJC-80 is quite old in "printer-years". Recent Canon inkjet
printers are much better and may be on a par with HP.
