I think this means the printhead is not detected. I tried rinsing with
water and drying it on the heater but no change. Any suggestions other
than a new printhead?

A new printer. Sorry.

Chris-

Is it possible to clean the electrical contacts on the print head and its
socket? I would try a soft pencil eraser, but nothing more abrasive than
that.

The BJC-70 print head is an expendable item. If your's is the original,
it may be about time it was replaced. Of course a printer that age could
have other problems. You might replace the print head only to find that
it still didn't work.

If you knew someone that had a similar printer, you might invite them to
bring theirs to visit yours and try swapping parts. Other models that
used the same print heads were the BJC-50, BJC-85 and Apple Color
StyleWriter 2200.

It's the printhead. The ink probably shorted domething. The black still
works. It's a shame because it was printing perfectly. It's worth a new
printhead because I have 3 of these printers. If one quits I have 2
more, one of which I bought just for the color head.
