Canon BJC-6000 Mechanical Repair worth it?

I have a Canon BJC-6000 which the automatic paper insert ceased to
function. I can still use it by manually inserting paper, so the
print functions still work. I have solved the cost of ink problems
with this printer by refilling the black tank and doing all my
printing in Grayscale mode. So I would like to keep it running and
will get the repair done if it is not too expensive.

My question is how expensive is it to get this type of repair? What
should I expect to pay. I bought it from Office Max and can take it
to them for repair. Anyone have any experience with them?

TIA

Tom

Anyone of the following printers can use the BCI-3e Black
cartridges found in the BJC-6000

i560
i550
i850
i860

I hear that the i550 can be purchased on e-bay for as
little as $63.00.

I own all of the printers so I can tell you, you can't go wrong
just upgrading the printer. Labor costs for the repair alone
is probably near the cost of a new printer.

Thanks, it is good to know that I can use the same methods for
avoiding the expense of buying tanks with these new models by
refilling as I do now. For now, I have turned the 6000 backwards and
am printing manually. Tom.
