I bought a second hand Canon BJ30 printer but the ONLINE light keeps
blinking and nothing prints. None of the butons works except the Power
button. I have put a brand new cartridge in but it hasn't made a
difference. Any help is appreciated.

i think you should buy a dozen used printers since the new ones cost
about $20.00 more than a set of ink carts and i am sure you think it is
worthwhile to save $20.00. out of a dozen used printers you should find
one that works and will then have many parts left over for repairs.

If you get the printer working you should look into some aftermarket
refill inks...Canon says they are as good as the OEM.

a distorted lie

Ok...Your right..

Canon said that generic ink is as good as thiers.

If you buy a name brand aftermarket ink, it's going to be better. Name
brand aftermarket ink is better than generic ink...so it's better than
Canon.

Thank you measekite for pointing out that mistake.

Please ignore the idiot response from our newsgroup troll, he has no idea of
the value of this printer. You and I do however, these portables were very
expensive to buy and are well worth looking after.
Do you get either any beeping sounds or a message on the display? Also does the
online light blink continuously or does it pause and then start to blink again?
If there is a pause can you count the number of blinks between pauses. If you
get any beeps how many times does it beep or do you get a long beep (about 3
seconds)?

Most of the time when I turn it on, (1) The online light begins
flashing at a constant rate about 3 times per second. After 5 minutes,
there are 2 beeps and the online light stops flashing but I get either
Code E6 or Code E13. (2) Once, I turned it on and there was some kind
of count down on the numerical panel and I got a Code E13 (no flashing
online light),

I am 100% sure I have put the catridge in correctly and it was a brand
new sealed one anyway.

E6 means BJ Cartridge not installed correctly. I don't know what E13 means.
So I suggest if you are sure it is correctly installed then take the cartridge
back for replacement.
