Canon 4200 grayscale printing question

Hi, am I correct in thinking that if I print normal text documents and
don't have 'Grayscale printing' checked, the "black" will be made from
the colour carts?

Should come from the black tank only when plain paper is selected. The only
time you should see black made from color is when you select duplex print or
photo print, and even then it should come mostly from the photo-black tank.
Grayscale when photo paper is selected could come from all 4.

You can easily check that with a magnifier.
