Cannot use System Restore function

When I attempt to restore my system to an earlier
configuration I recive the following error message:

"System Restore Application has encountered a problem and
needs to close"

Upon looking up the exact error, I found the error to be
the following:

"AppName: rstrvi.exe AppVer: 5.1.2600l.0 ModName:
srrstr.dll ModVer: 5.1.2600.101 Offset: 00008f33

Not sure what all that means but maybe somebody out there
can help me. Thanks
