I recently changed from Adelphia Cable Modem, to Verizon
DSL (Westell 2200). It is called a modem/router. Since
the change, I can no longer use my WebCam or Audio.
Typing Works. Audio Tuning Wizard works great, and
Camera is working.
I contacted Verizon, and they tell me they do not support
this type of problem (even tho it worked before their
equipment).
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Jim

Greetings Jim,

Unfortunately in order for voice/video conversations to be successful the router (which is
part of your modem) must support Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) or have some type of built-in
support for Messenger voice/video conversations. I don't believe the Westell 2200 is UPnP
enabled, nor is there an update to make it support UPnP and as such, this simply won't work.

Would it work if the Westell 2200 were connected to...a
Linksys DSL Router? Or would the Westell still block
things?
Thanks Too For The Quick Reply
Jim

Hi Jim,

This scenario would work as long as the Linksys had support for UPnP (most of their more
popular products do now), and if the built-in NAT/router component were disabled on the
Westell 2200 (unfortunately I couldn't find any specific documentation if the NAT could be
turned off).

You can do this by configuring the modem for bridged mode. This disables the
gateway and NAT fucntions of the modem. Long into the modem config using
your browser and the IP address of the modem.
