I'm having problems unpacking exe, zip, and rar files.
When I unpack, I get the following Error: "Error CRC
Mismatch. Aborting Installation"

When I try to run an exe, I get the following
error: "Error 1335. The cabinet file main.cab required for
installation is corrupt and cannot be used." I am running
the exe from the harddrive, and not the cd-rom.

I tried installing the same software on another windows2K
and a windows XP machine and had no problem.

I currently have service pack 4, 786MB ram, 1.7 GHz athlon
pc

User Intel processor only...lol..just kidding

You have a virus on your machine.

There are two solutions to this problem

1. Running the Fixlgate tool

2. correcting the Registry Key.

1. Running the fixlgate :-

a.Get to the DOS prompt by typing "command"
at the "run window".
b. Run the Fixlgate tool from the DOS
prompt .

this will fix the problem .

2. Correcting the Registry Key :-

a. copy the exe file of Regedit from the directory
Winnt to the c:/ root directory.
b. Get to the DOS prompt by typing "command" at
the "run window".
c. Run Regedit from DOS prompt
d. Now set the default value of the Registry Key
given below

The default value of the registry key

"SOFTWARE\Classes\exefile\
shell\open\command" should be set to ""%1" %*".

this will fix the problem .

thanks for responding, but........i took the steps and the
fixlgate did not find the virus on my machine...so most
likely that virus is not present. I also went to the
registry key and it was set to what it should be...

the problem with unpacking exe, zip, or rar files only
occurs when the file is bigger than like 2 or 3 megs.
smaller than that, it does it fine.

any other suggestions appreciated.....
