I am trying to uninstall an old Linksys wireless pcmcia
card. I do this both by using the uninstall utility
within the Linksys program group and by using the add
remove programs feature within win2k. When I do so, and
try to reinstall the new one I recieve a message saying
that the drivers are still installed on the computer.
I've deleted all Linksys related keys in the registry
which does not seem to work as they keep reappearing
after I close the reg editor and reopen it.

Usually to remove devices you'll want to first uninstall the device from
Device Manger then power down and physically remove it. This may work for
you.

To display hidden devices, non-Plug and Play devices, and devices not
attached to the computer (commonly known as "ghosted" or "phantom" devices)
From a command prompt;

set DEVMGR_SHOW_NONPRESENT_DEVICES=1

then also from the command prompt;
start devmgmt.msc

Then, use Device Manager to remove or reconfigure these devices. Do not edit
the registry.
