Cannot to the Internet

Can someone please help me I just got a new computer and went I connect it
to my dsl moderm I cannot connect to the internet I have talk to verizon who
is my ISP and they said that I'm connected but there is something on my
computer that is blocking me from going online. Please help
 
1. Start Internet Explorer.
2. Click the Tools menu, and then click Internet Options.
3. Click the Connections tab.
4. Under Dial-up and VPN Settings, click the broadband connection, click Settings, and then click Automatically detect
settings.
5. Click OK.

check your firewall settings.

When I had that problem (with cable), the root cause
was the firewall. I have NIS. I had to configure
the default gateway and DNS servers IP addresses as
"trusted" IP addresses. You can find these IP addresses
by opening a window with Start / Run / cmd and executing
"ipconfig /all".
 
After doing more troubleshooting I found this it was my dsl moderm it
outdated and Verizon sent me a new moderm and I don't have any problems
getting on line now. Thank you very much for your help.
