Cannot synchronize .mdb files in a briefcase

I am unable to synhronize certain files in the Win2000
Briefcase folder. These files are Microsoft Office XP:
Access files with extension .mdb and are on a different
machine on my LAN at home. All other files synchronize
fine. I get a message that the synchronize program was
unable to open these files. Any idea how to make it open
them?
