Cannot switch to, resize, or restore IE6

Hello All.

After double-clicking the IE icon, IE opens, but only in
the taskbar. If I click on the taskbar icon, nothing
happens. I must right click the taskbar icon and select
Maximize. I also can't alt-tab to or from IE6.

I originally had IE 5.5 SP2 (which had the same issue)
I upgraded 2000 to SP4 (no help)
I ran all security updates from WindowsUpdate (no help)
I ran the latest rev of Adaware6 and it found nothing.
I uninstalled my popup stopper (no help)

@ my wits end
Please Help!

When IE is minimised, right-click on its button on the Taskbar
then click Move and use your keyboard arrows to
get the tiny window out into the middle of your screen so you have some
elbow room. Then click Size and use your keyboard arrows to get it to a
usable size. Finally, use your arrow keys to stretch it to suit yourself.
After making sure that no other IE windows are open, close this one last so
that IE will remember this size for next time.

Or, right-click the button, click Properties, and set it to Run in a
Maximised window.

or try this:

"Close all windows EXCEPT the one that open "minimised"; right click on your
Task Bar, either on the open space on the right or left end (your choice);
select "Tile Windows Horizontally" and IE will maximise; close IE. Re-open
IE and it will be maximised.

Something you can try. Right-click the icon you use to access IE.
Choose properties. Change so that it runs in a maximized window. Apply
and okay your way out. ("Normal" seems to be a fluctuating value,
meaning the size when you last closed an IE window.)
