cannot start windows

first off, thank you for helping me

When I attempt ot start windows, and get to the select administrator, my screen becomess extremely distorted and I am unable to select the administrator. There are many columns comprised of multicolored dots, dots, and more dots, and the screen is unreadable. Will end up having to turn off PC with power button.

Kathy, next time you startup, tap F8 repeatedly until you get a Menu.
Select Safe Mode and see if it loads Ok without
the Distortion. Depending on how old your system is and sometimes that
doesn't matter your graphic card or chip maybe
going flaky.
