cannot shut down/ computer shuts down in mid of game

We have P4 pc, intel 1.7MHz and XP Home Edition.
1.Recnetly our computers shut down in middle of games or
eles. and we cannot reboot without turning off the main
supply.
2. Since two days before, we cannot shut down the
computer through the provided short cuts nor can restart
through hot boot. Does out computer has a virus or worm.
