Cannot set virtual memory

I set my virtual memory to none to defrag my hard drive ( I only did this
because of removing many files and programs). After defraging and scanning my
drive I tried to set my vm. I get an error message: C++ runtime error
mmc.exe failed to load

How to fix this? Work around?

2gigs ram and 80gig hd

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

All computers use virtual memory even if ram was 100X what you might
have now,one needs to eliminate it carefully & only for min amount of time.
Try run, type:cmd In cmd type:CLEANMGR Run it,type:Defrag C: Once thru,
type:EXIT Open system properties, virtual memory, set C: to "no page file"
click
set 2X,close out restart pc.Back in xp,open cmd,retype defrag,close out,reset
virtual memory to "let system manage" set 2X,close,a restart should be
prompted.

The first thing I would try is a System Restore to a time before you
fiddled around with VM:
