Whenever I click on 'Tools - References' on the toolbar of
MS Access 2002 in the VBA design code editor I get a
message: 'error accessing system registry' in a dialog box
titled 'Visual Basic', and cannot get into the references
dialog box to add references to my program.

Any ideas what might be the reason?

Thanks,
Mark

Sounds like you have something corrupted. Under the Help
menu you should see something called Detect and Repair.
Try that. If that does not work, uninstall the application
then shut your computer down. Leave it for 10 seconds or
so to ensure memory was completely flushed. Simply
restarting does not necessarily flush memory and any dlls,
etc that were in memory at the time might not be
overwritten otherwise. You would think uninstalling would
delete all files, includinng dll's, drivers, etc. but who
am I. (OK enough griping!) After you restart, reinstall
Access (or office if that's what was originally
installed). If that does not help, I am not sure how to
help you.

Hope that helps!

Kevin
