My service was restored after Hurrican Kartina, however send/ receive will
not happen? all settings same, and I can browse just fine? I've contacted
Cox, and the just threw up the white flag, Any help much appreciated...

I have the exact same problem, when I click on send/receive, the following
error comes up

"could not open the item. try again"

I take it that it was unable to open the send/receive dialogue box thing?
Please help.

Also, when I click on

Tools > Send/Receive> Send all

I receive the following error message

"The Operation Fail. An object could not be found"

Methods used to try and rectify the problem --> I have uninstalled and
re-installed, to no avail....I have also tried repairing it, which also did
nothing.

Please advise a solution.

Many thanks
Shaz

Thanks Mittu, error message states " mail server found, but no response
from server" " check port and SSL setting for correct" mine set at
default, 110 and 25
I am right clicking outlook and directly doing a "test" email connection and
getting a failed message

A time-out occurred while communicating with the server. Account: 'pop3',
Server: 'pop.east.cox.net', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Error
Number: 0x800CCC19

Please advise------ Thanks

Hi,

Try to un-installing the anti-virus program installed in your computer. They
might sometimes cause this issue. Un-install all firewall related programs
and restart the computer.

Try again to send a test email.

Thanks Mittu....
Turns out you were right! After a week of trying, it is Norton. Here's the
rub, When I "disabled" Norton. still no send/receive. so I ruled anti-virus
issues OUT. However when I actually "logged-off" Norton, then it worked.
Here's my conspericy theory, Every year when my Norton re-newal comes around,
it seems my system goes into some minor tail-spin. Is Norton trying to
convience me, " We keep you runing smooth" :) any-who, thanks Mittu
