i am using windows vista home basic and im trying to send and recieve emails
via windows mail i am getting error messages all the time eg:The message
could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be correct for your
outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this problem, go to Help,
search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the "I'm having problems
sending e-mail" section. If you need help determining the proper server
settings, please contact your e-mail service provider.

The rejected e-mail address was '(e-mail address removed)'. Subject
'test', Account: 'pop.mail.yahoo.com', Server: 'smtp.mail.yahoo.com',
Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '530 authentication required - for help go
to http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/mail/pop/pop-11.html', Port: 25,
Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 530, Error Number: 0x800CCC78 its really
starting to annoy me because ive checked the server settings and apparently
they're right

anyone with miracle answers would be great

thank you very much

Try doing the following:

Go into your WinMail
Select the Tools menu
drop down & select "Accounts"
Highlight your ISP Server & click on "Properties button.

From the top of the next window, select the "Server" tab
Towards the bottom of the screen you will see "My server requires
authentication"
(TICK THIS BOX)

Then click on "Apply"
Then click on "OK"

Hopefully that should work.
