I am unable to send or receive email through Outlook 2000. I think (but not
100% sure) that the problem started when I upgraded to the latest version of
MSN Messenger - which doesn't work! I believe that update SR1a is missing -
but I cannot install it because update SP3 is already installed. The
version number is 9.0.0.2711

The error messages are: "Unable to connect to server. Account: xxxx SMTP
Server: smtp.blueyonder.co.uk Error number 0x800ccc0e"
"Unable to connect to server. Account: xxxx POP Server:
pop3.blueyonder.co.uk Error number 0x800ccc0d"
I have also seen error codes 0x800ccc19 and 0x800ccc90.

I have reinstalled Outlook 2000 a few times to no avail. I have followed a
suggestion to have POP mail delivered to a new folder that it said create -
which didn't work, now I have a folder I do not want and cannot delete.

Help!!

Go to Tools | Options and click the Mail Setup tab, then the Send/Receive
button. Is the first check box selected (include in send/receive)?

I've just had this problem and thought it was to do with having changed the
pst file accessed. However I did also install MSN Messenger (which works
fine) so that could have turned that option off. Can't see why though.

I have checked that, and it all seems fine.

Still shows same error message when sending and receiving

Sorry I cannot help then. I just hoped it might be the same problem I had
and resolved, but obviously not. Good luck.

I have managed to resolve the problem, with the help of blueyonder.co.uk.

It was due to a firewall problem, caused because I reinstalled Outlook. The
firewall should have alerted me, but it did not. I have now changed the
configuration of the firewall and Outlook is now back in operation.
