We have a new laptop with Windows Vista Home Premium on it and we are trying
to use the Window Mail for e-mail. It was working in the beginning and then
it stopped working. I have since removed Norton Anti-virus and disabled the
e-mail scanning on our AVG to no avail. Here is the error message I receive:

The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'pop.mts.net', Server:
'pop.mts.net', Protocol: POP3, Port: 995, Secure(SSL): Yes, Socket Error:
10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

I would appreciate any help on this matter. Thank you in advance!

Did the failure begin before or after AVG was installed?
It is likely that while Norton was still on your system it corrupted
your mail account. Add a new mail account with the same settings
as the old one, then delete the old (corrupted) account.

I had the same problem with my old laptop that had xp and also had avg. the
problem only occured every once and awhile though. With my new laptop windows
mail was working fine but now that i have avg it is starting to have the same
problem as it did with outlook express on my old computer. I guess it has
something to do with avg but turning off the email scanner doesnt do anything.

Zack,
Success has been shown by uninstalling AVG and reinstalling using the Custom ,mode and deselecting the Email option.
