Please help. I have been at this for 5 hours. I have tried the thread
solutions but some of them are too difficult for me to understand. I am not
familiar with computers.

I can receive but not send. They just stack up in my outbox. I have tried
to delete them but one in particular just gives me an error message " unknown
error has occurred. Check for low memory" I have plenty of memory. The
trouble started whent the battery was running too low in the middle of the
email which I can now not delete. Just in case it was the email scanner on
my free avg7.5 security software, I uninstalled and reinstalled it without
email scanner but no changes. I have tried restarting numerous times. Many
thanks in advance for your advice! I am running vista on a new xps1710

thank you. I did download the utility and I was able to empty the outbox but
it is still stuck. I tried creating a new email and it is also just sitting
in the outbox. Any other suggestions for the immediate future? Thanks

No other suggestions except for you to try my second suggestion.

I have also problems with sending the messages in windows mail. When I push
the send button the message is first send to the outbox. When I push the
send/recieve button, nothing happends. I have to close the reader and
restart, then the message is send

Hello. I am happy to say that Gary's 2 recommendations worked. First I
downloaded the utility to clear the outbox and then I downloaded windows live
mail beta. The links are both in his response. The second took care of the
sending problem and I do like wlm better than wm.
Good luck and thanks Gary

Glad it worked out for you.
