error message
The connection to the server has failed. Subject 'Re: re car hire...',
Account: 'Style Cars', Server: 'smtp.btinternet.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port:
25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 535, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number:
0x800CCC0E

When you got that error message, was your computer getting its
Internet connection from BT?
A typical reason for that error is using an Internet connection from a
source other than the SMTP server owner.

yes mt internet connection is from BT, it has been working fine but windows
mail has started asking for username and password to verify have typed in the
same as set in accounts and no luck!

i, too, can no longer send email. It was working fine. I have a laptop, my
husband has the desk top. My laptop is wireless so we are connected by the
same wireless router. We can both check our email from both computers. It
works fine on his, but I can receive and not send.

If you are sure you are you are entering the correct username and
password, one possible cause for that error is account corruption.
One thing you should try as a quick fix is to delete that corrupted
mail account, restart Windows Mail, then recreate that account.

If that doesn't fix it, more drastic measures will have to be taken.
Which antivirus are you running?
As a minimum, email scanning in the antivirus must be turned off,
although that may not be sufficient to eliminate all bad effects.
In a worst case scenario, your antivirus may need to be uninstalled.

If turning off the email scanning function does not resolve your problem,
consider upgrading to Windows Live Mail, because it is less prone to
suffering bad effects from overly aggressive antivirus programs.

Email scanning in any antivirus must be disabled, for reasons
explained here:

I accidently typed in yahoo at the same time my computer was asking for my
server which is Super motel 8. that is where i am at. Anyway I know what the
problem is, I just don't know where to go in my comp. to change my network
server. Ican't send anything out until I fix it.

In Windows Mail go to Tools, Accounts, select that account, Properties, Servers.
You can change the outgoing (SMTP) server there.
However, I doubt that Super Motel 8 will give you the name of their SMTP
server. Do your sending via webmail while away from home.
