I cannot send out any emails. I am using Windows Vista and the emails just
stay in the outbox and don't go anywhere. This started last night. The
error message I get is:

The connection to the server has failed. Subject 'ez pass statement link -
pin is 1031', Account: 'mail.comcast.net', Server: 'smtp.comcast.net',
Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number:
0x800CCC0E

Can anyone help me out?

Thank you

If you were able to send e-mails until last night and you have checked to
make sure your e-mail settings are all as they should be, this is likely a
problem on the Comcast side, perhaps an issue with their servers and usually
all you can do in a case such as this is wait for them to resolve it. Some
ISPs have a website where you can check the status of various services, you
might want to check and see if Comcast has such a site and/or you might call
your ISP's tech support to varify they are having no issues at this time.

If they are not, you might have them go through your settings with you and
perhaps they can help resolve this issue.

I also use Comcast and use the STANDARD port 25 setting and mine works all the time.
there is probably something else going on.
when Comcast assisted me in the setting up because of the change over from Time Warner Road Runner that was the port they said to use.

According to your ISP:
http://www.comcast.net/help/faq/index.jsp?faq=Emailtop17686
you are supposed to be using port 587 instead of port 25 for the
outgoing (SMTP) mail server. When you change that, also make sure
you have "My server requires authentication" checked.

The problem with port 25 is that you can't use it when you take
a laptop on a trip. But it should work fine from home.
AT&T is getting away from port 25 use altogether, which is
a sign of things to come.

I use a desktop and do not take laptop on trips.
if I go on a rip I want to have peace and quiet.
