Cannot see option for FAX in Outlook 2000

Hello,

Here's my problem. I want to set up my Outlook
2000/Corporate or Workgroup (use Win 2000 Professional) to
send/receive fax. I want to use it for broadcast fax - to
about 20-30 recepients.

However, I do not see option for fax anywhere in my
Outlook, so I can't install that feature. I did install it
on my home computer where I use Win XP, but here in my
office I am having trouble finding it.

Am I missing on anything? Please help.

Yes, I did, but things, again, did not work well.
I loged in as an administrator on my computer and here's
what happened...

First, under Start/Programs/Accessories/Communications
there was no option for Fax at all.

Second, when I accessed Services under Administrative
TOols in Control Panel and opened properties for Fax
Service I could not add my account (nor the administrator
acc.) under Log On. When I attempted to start Fax Service
I got this error message:

"Could not start Fax Service on Local computer. THe
service did not return an error. THis could be an internal
windows error or an internal service error.

What should I do next?

Was the Fax Service installed and operating correctly before you attempted
integration with Outlook?
In what order did you install the Fax Service and Outlook?
Post the contents of your mapisvc.inf file.

Also having same problem with FAX. Have Outlook 2000 SR-1
and Windows SP Home Edition version 2002. Went to
slipstick, my tabs are different. How do I log on with
administrative privileges?

(CW) Setup.

In Step 5, iIf I use my own account "fred" (that
does have Administrator priveledges), I get
error 1069 at Step 6
"The service did not starrt due to a login
failure"

However if I use the Administrator account, Step 6
seems to be happy with it.

And I do know the correct password for "fred".
My computer name is also "fred", could this be the
cause?
Any help is appreciated.

KB823599, KB82390, Q818043
Outlook 2000/SP3 (9.0.0.6627)
in Corporate or Workgroup mode with all Updates
(according to the Office Uodate check)

yes it did, under the admin account named
"Admininstrator"

have you any references about "a bad idea" that
the User Account Name and Computer name are the
same?
Anyway, I'll create another account to test this
out and post back here....

All I know is that any time I try to create a user account in Windows XP
that is the same as the computer name, Windows XP gets very cross, treats me
like an idiot, and yells at me to pick a different name. Since Windows 2000
was Windows XP's immediate predecessor, I suspect it was a bad idea there as
well but they just hadn't figured out that they needed to tell us so.

At any rate, you're asking questions about OS logon credentials about which
I know nothing. I'm just the stupid fax guy.

have a repro on the problem. They're still investigating the solution.
