Hi

This is probably an easy question

I have a desktop and a notebook
desktop has 2 cards one for comcast cable modem and second for internal
network - wire to notebook
I set up that second connection on desktop as
111.111.111.112
subnet 255.255.255.0

on notebook I create connection
111.111.111.111
subnet 255.255.255.0

TCP works I can ping from notebook

But I CANNOT see windows neigbours from either!!!!!!!!!!!!

HELP

Try:

1. If you do not have a hub or switch, make sure you use a crossover cable
instead of a straight ethernet cable to connect these machines.

2. On the desktop right click My Network Places and select Properties.
Click Advanced then Advanced Settings. Make sure that the connection for
the 111.111.111.112 adapter is at the top of the binding order.

3. What happens if on the laptop you click Start/Run \\111.111.111.112
ENTER?

1. well I do use straight ethernet cable but it worked before I went on a
trip!!!!
2. I have w2k
when I right click My Network Places/Properties it opens connections folder
Network and Dial-up Connections
3. It says NetworkPath not available
but when i do ftp://111.111.111.112 it works

Re: #2 - at the top of the Network and Dial-up Connections window, you
should have File, Edit, Favorites, Tools, Advanced, Help:

"Click Advanced then Advanced Settings. Make sure that the connection for
the 111.111.111.112 adapter is at the top of the binding order."

Also, make sure that file and printer sharing is enabled for this adapter,
and you are not running any firewall or security software which blocks file
and printer sharing. Also, check Event Viewer for errors.
