Hi,

I have an external hard disk and recently try to plug into my USB port to
transfer a file from my laptop to the external hard disk. Unfortunately, i
could not find the hard disk in my computer, neither it opens automatically.
Could anyone tell me what is the problem?

Thank you.

Is the external drive seen when you plug it into another computer? Are any
other USB devices seen by the problem machine?

yes, other USB device is fine with the problem machine. I have a thumb drive
and upon plugging in, it can straight away pop up the autoplay and the thumb
drive is assigned to F drive in the problem machine.

And the answer to the first question I asked you is...?

If it once worked and now it doesn't, it's busted.

Exactly. Tiffany should contact the external drive mftr. (assuming it's a
commercial one; i.e., My Book etc.) for RMA. If the drive is in an external
enclosure that she put together herself, she should put it in a different
external enclosure and test. Etc.
