Cannot search using Internet Explorer 6

I've recently began having problems using any search
engine with IE 6. The system will timeout and I get the
error message "The page cannot be displayed". I've
reinstalled IE6, but the problem still exists. Has anyone
heard of this issue? I'm running W2K on a new Dell laptop.
