I have been searching for a solution for a few days now and have tryed many
things with no success. I can save a project but I cannot save it as a
movie. I have tried saving a very small project and have had no success. I
have installed media player 10 and checked the items listed on papajohns
site. I also have tryed the codec rename utility. Please someone help.

Just wondering....when you go to...File /
Save Movie File...what happens?

Do you receive errors? If so...what are
the exact errors?

The project and movie files are two different things and saved differently,
follow Johns instructions for saving the movie file.

Ok as I said earlier I can save the project as a project but not as a movie
file. I have tried to use both 'file/save movie file' and from the movie
tasks window: 3. finish movie: /save to my computer, /save to CD, /send in
email'.

All give the same result.

The save movie wizard will start. I get to the end of the wizard and I
recieve 'Cannot complete the save movie wizard' and all possible fixes are
listed and no errors.

it says 'Windos movie maker cannot save the movie to the specified location.
Verify that the original source files used in your movie are still
available, that the saving location is still available, and that there is
enough free disk space available, and then try again.'

I have tried several quality options and have tried different save
locations. I have 35 gig available on the hard drive and have resently done a
defrag. The original file has been unchanged and has not been moved. Also I
have tried many things from this newsgroup and papajohns site (see earlier
post).

I also wanted to add that I have used nero and pinicle products and that the
MM2 is exaclty what I want for a movie editor. I would really like to get
this to work.

Thank you

I have this same problem. I think it may be a virtual memory porblem
possibly, because after restarting my computer and running it in safe mode, i
managed to get the video to start saving, but after 5 seconds a virtual
memory warning came up saying it was low. Also, the movie said it would take
900 minutes and that time kept climbing steadily. Someone help us. And don't
just keep sending us to papa johns site please.

Matt

I should also add that instantly after clicking next (in the save movie
wizard) the failure message is reported. No hard drive operation. No time
remaining. Just 'cannot complete the save'

I have not tryed to do it in safe mode either however I probally won't try
as it didn't yeild success for Matt.

I am having the same issue, I have a new pc. I havn't had any messages about
VM, but I have way more then emough disk space as well as ram. My issue is
just like Threw's, just a larger file. I bought it for the sole purpose of
editing movies.

I too have the exact same problem. New computer, Windows XP, Movie Maker
2.0. I made a movie from photos and audio tracks. I have successfully
gotten through the Movie Record Wizard by changing recording settings, but
when I replay the recorded movie from either a CD or a computer file (wav
format), I do not get all the video I recorded. I do get the audio.
With some record settings, (Recommended setting), I get the same "Can not
record" error and I also get the Virtual Memory Low error. Yet I have over
130GB available on the C Drive and 256MB ram. Don't understand it. Did
read a message posted on the Windows XP site that this might mean that I have
a bad audio track in the movie. So, my next attempt will be to remove the
audio tracks and try to record the video alone. If this don't work, then I
am going to look for some other software - - - I have been working on this
problem for two weeks already and am just about at the end of my rope.
Maybe it is time to get a Mac?
