WinXp Sp2. Having composed a movie maker project, when I go to convert to a
movie file it tells me 6500mins to go, runs down to 1200 mins then stops and
does nothing! Having viewed the project thru Windows Media Player the clip
is about 20mins long. The very first project I did and converted and saved
to a CD played for just on 40mins. Since then the program has never allowed
me to convert any long projects at all. Will handle converting a small
project of some 10 pics (plus credits and transitions and music) and is
still able to convert to a movie file. Just the long projects it will not
convert! How do "repair" this problem? BTW - I have used the SP2 CD to
reinstall.

Sounds like it may be maintenance and resource issues.

It may be worth a try to do the following maintenance and
after that...installing more RAM couldn't hurt and also you
might try increasing the size of your virtual memory paging
file.

Running Disk Cleanup, Error Checking and
Defrag on a regular schedule is a good idea.

(check the two boxes..."Automatically fix file
system errors" and "Scan for and attempt

the next time you restart your computer.
(run error checking repeatedly until it finds
no errors)
