Hi
I have a network using Server2003. XP Pro (SP2) workstations. I want to be
able to let users save a movie file to their directory on the server. BUT
they cannot browse the network when establishing a saving destination when
making a video. they are small video clips - nothing HUGE that will bog down
the network.

Is there somewhere within the program, XP, or Registry, where I can change
the default destination to read the network drive? ...or let the user at
least get to Network Neighborhood?

this is a real annoyance... as a work around I have my students save to the
desktop and then copy all the files to their network location before they log
off (as logging off deletes any files added to the desktop and restores the
default profile).

We have changed the My Documents path to actually point to their network
location, but when they click to select My Documents (when saving a video),
it says that you can't save to My Documents.

any suggestions?

After the save movie wizard opens if you click the Browse button next to the
file location box you should have "My Network Places" in the list. If not
then there is a problem with the network of some sort.

Optionally you could map the network drive thereby creating a drive letter
designation for it.
You would have to do it from each computer but if you right click the
network location from Windows Explorer and click the network drive or folder
and click "Map Network Drive" from there you will have the option of which
drive letter you want to assign to that drive or folder. That drive letter
will then show up in Windows Explorer and will work just as any other
harddrive partition would except, of course, a little slower.
