Cannot save Normal.dot in Citrix session

Whenever I attempt to close word within a Citrix session (windowed or
desktop), I get the following error:

"Changes have been made that affect the global template Normal.dot. Do
you want to save these changes?"

This template is one we created to help with calculations, invoices,
and the like. This message is really an annoyance more than anything,
but it did not happen before when we where using the last version of
citrix presentation server on windows 2000 server (now we are on
Presentation Server 4 on a 2003 server). If I try to save, I get the
following error:

"This file is in use by another application or user.
(L:\template\normal.doc)"

I assume this is because there are more users logged onto citrix, or
just using the template with their local version of Microsoft office.

What I really want to do is stop it from asking me if I want to save
changes. I assume that there is no reason to save them in the first
place. Can someone help?

Is the L: drive the user's home drive or a drive on the Citrix server?

For Word to run successfully, each user requires their own personal copy of
Normal.dot. It's Word's per-user scratch-pad. If it's shared, you get
errors, crashes, hangs, and corrupt documents.

If you set Normal "read-only", you will still get the error you speak of:
Word updates Normal.dot frequently while the user works, and attempts to
save it on exit.
