Cannot save movie file

I have in the past made and burned movies but all of a sudden my computer won't let me save the movie file. I have tried downloading again Movie Maker 2 in case something got messed up in the program. When I go to save the movie file or burn it to a CD it never finishes. I can leave my computer on all night and it still won't finish. In the past it took only a short time. I have plenty of memory left on my computer. If I go to Sonic DVD to transfer the movie it says it does not recognize the file, since it has not been saved. Any tips?
