Hi!

I'm quite desperate now. :-/
Ok, I've edited my film so far. When I want to save it, I get an error
message "Cannot save film, please make sure that you've got enough free
disk space and that all source files are still available".
Done that. Defenitely enough disk space, all files available. I can
watch the whole movie in preview mode (timeline).
I thought it might have to do with clipnames, and that I might have
renamed them after inserting into the timeline.
So I made sure that all the clipnames in the timeline are identical to
the one in my imported collections...
Still, cannot save movie.

So, I tried to seperate the error, and deleted as many clips as
possible, to figure out, which one wasn't working.
I also renamed some source files after this, and after starting MM
again, I manually renewed all the path information (i.e. "find missing
file").

Still, I can watch my whole movie in the timeline, NO errors whatsoever,
just can't export it.

Tried to find out if it was because of too long clipnames, and indeed,
this seems to be the problem.
In a test project, I tried to add the "new clips" with shortened names,
and it actually worked to export the film then.
BUT, I am _not_ using too complicated names, am I?

Apparently, things like "DV - Flughafen deinterlaced (3)" tend to NOT
work, but "Flughafen3" or so does.

PLEASE, how can I get my final project as a film? I don't want to edit
it all over again, it took a lot of effort to get it sync to the audio.

ANY HELP whatsoever much appreciated! TIA

I hope you get an answer because I am expiring the same
problem. I spent a lot of time on my as well and I
cannot save it nor send it to a cd.

Hi there,
Have a look at the problem solving section of www.papajohn.org The solution
you are looking for comes under Can't save....
Tried that before posting.
Ok, currently I get the error message just after starting to save as
WMV, or a couple of minutes after saving as DV-AVI.

It goes to 10%, fine (DV-AVI that is), then it slows down, remaining
time goes UP, and at about 18%, it stops.

My trailer is only 1:40 minutes, ffs.

I checked qasf.dll, fine. Tried to re-install WMCodecs ver. 9, WM
Encoder Ver. 9, everything. Couldn't reinstall Movie Maker though (as an
un-install isn't possible).
Checked my codecs, the problem seems to be there, but what can I do?

I'm do desperate, really...

Hi Linus,

Have you tried saving out just a small portion of your timeline (say the
first 30 seconds)?
Can you preview your timeline successfully in Movie Maker all the way
through?
If you can, then that means that you've got all the required codecs on your
system (eliminating that as a potential cause of your problem)

I'm thinking you may be experiencing a problem similar to what's mentioned
in the KB Article at
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;814836
If you can save the first portion of your timeline successfully, you may
want to take a look at some of the other workarounds in the KB article that
could be less drastic and time consuming for you.

Cheers
Gareth

If you figure out why you cant save your film, PLEASE let
me know. I am having the same problem and it's driving
me nuts. I am trying to make Christmas gifts using my
movie player. I don't know what is going on with this
dang thing. I would appreciate any help anyone has to
offer!!!
Thank you
