Cannot save Dialup Connection Name

I just ran the Win2000 professional CD to do an upgrade. After that all my previous dialup connections were erased, so I tried to set up a New Dialup Connection. However, when I get to the part to save, I keep getting the error that says something like, "Invalid name. The name must be at least one character that is not a space and can not begin with a period. Please choose another name." I tried all sort of names, for example, "Earthlink," that should have met the requirements, but the message still persists I can not go any further. What can be the problem? Please help

What OS did you upgrade from?
 
i had the same problem. but with me it didnt coincide with any
uprgades. i fixed it by reinstalling SP4
